Fernbank Elementary School is a DeKalb County school. It has served the children of Atlanta since 1957 and is located in Druid Hills, a beautiful historic neighborhood in Atlanta.

Our school is a fully-authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme school. While our primary focus is on providing a quality basic education for all students, we strive to enhance the total education of each child with foreign language, art, music, physical education, and computer/technology literacy.

CogAT testing begins later this week
Parents/guardians: You should have received your child's MAP scores in this week's courier. A letter was sent home with their scores, advising you whether or not you child’s MAP score qualified him/her to take the CogAT assessment. This is next step in the Gifted Eligibility Process.

Important Reminders About Attendance

Regular attendance at school is a key factor to any student's success. Please be diligent concerning DeKalb County School System's attendance policies:

School starts promptly at 7:40 am.

Introducing Fernbank's Buddy Bench!
Paul and Denise Beall and daughters Lola and Stori, Fernbank graduates, wanted to do something very special for our school - and particularly for children who sometimes feel left out on the playground. This wonderful family purchased a Buddy Bench for Fernbank, which now sits on the side of our playground.
On the scene with Dr. Green is back!
The Superintendent of our DeKalb County School District, Dr. R. Stephen Green, will be holding 5 "On the Scene with Dr. Green" meetings this school year.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Now that we have the first few days of school under our belts, we are ready for some serious learning! As a reminder, if you're driving or walking your children to school, we ask that you drop your child(ren) between 7:00 am - 7:30 am so they have enough time to get to their classroom by 7:40 am, when the last bell will ring. Patrols should arrive by 7:15 am so they may be at their posts by 7:20 am.
